FOI documents and consultations

We note with interest that Ivan Bulic’s Letter to the Editor in this week’s Sounder references a significant amount of contact between the Gabriola Bridge Society (the pro-bridge lobby) and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure during 2014, including a quoted offer by the Deputy Director to hold meetings with the Society. The letter goes on to ask to what extent these consultations with the Society influenced provincial government processes so far. We’re curious about this too, as there has been no consultation on the bridge issue with local governments.

A separate article on the Gabriola Museum notes that these documents (obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request) have been placed in the Museum archives, and are therefore public and available for viewing, so if you’re curious about the details therein, that would be the place to start.
